Kindness Week

This week we have been learning about being kind.  We learned about what it means to be kind and we talked about ways that we have been kind.   One of my favorite books about kindness is called Each Kindness.  In this book a little girl joins a classroom midyear.  The other kids ignore her and she does not make any new friends.  One day she is gone, and has moved away.  The teacher talks about kindness to the class.  She explains to them that kindness has a ripple effect.  It goes beyond the one small act you have done and branches out to other people as well.

After we read the book the kids took turns saying something that they have done that is kind, then they threw a "rock" into a tub of water and watched the water ripple to the edges.

We also read the book Be Kind, which is a FANTASTIC book that explains to kids what it actually means to be kind.    We had a lot of fun with this one!  Each student wrote about a way they can show kindness and then we did a directed drawing of a llama, because.... We Have NO Prob-Llama Being Kind!!  The writing and the llamas turned out AMAZING!  They will be hanging up in the hallway for our Clark friends to see!
